Have you ever heard about the history of Irwin, Iowa. Well the town itself was named after E.W Irwin. Over there it just use to be Irwin Community School until ‘92, when it joined school districts with Kirkman and Manilla.
Kirkman became a town because the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad ran through the territory.Kirkman was named after M.M Kirkman who was the railroad official and the first house ever built in Kirkman was the Kirkman House. Manning was just a swampy region where they could hunt occasionally.

I was interested in your article about Irwin, Kirkman, Manilla and Manning. However, I believe you perhaps ran out of time before you finished your article, because you shortchanged Manning, in the fact that it was not just a swamp land. It was built around the railroad, named after O. H. Manning, had one of the first flour mills as well as lumber companies in the area. I would suggest a follow-up to include this part. Everyone is interested in the heritage of where they live and where they're families came from.
